Entry to the choir is by short, informal audition with Clive Walkley, our Director, to ensure that we have a good blend of voices in the choir. We draw our membership from a wide area, and singers currently come from Bolton le Sands, Hornby, Tunstall, Kirkby Lonsdale, Settle and Arnside as well as from Kendal.
Many of our performances are unaccompanied and most of the time we practice unaccompanied too. For larger works and concerts, we engage professional soloists and groups and are often joined as a soloist by our President, Evelyn Tubb, the distinguished Early Music specialist.
We meet for rehearsals on Thursday evenings from 7.30 to 9.15pm at Natland, near Kendal – tea, coffee, biscuits and conversation are always served after each rehearsal. We’re a friendly group of people from a wide range of backgrounds who enjoy music making to a good standard and we enjoy each others’ company too.
If you are interested in joining the choir, we’d love to hear from you – please send us an email to info@pronobis-singers.com
We currently (April 2023) have a vacancy for a soprano and a bass who can sight read to a reasonable standard and who would enjoy singing in a small friendly group of around 30 singers. Much of the choir’s repertoire is early and contemporary music which is frequently sung unaccompanied so experience of singing this type of music would be useful. Please contact our Musical Director via email at info@pronobis-singers.com if this would be of interest to you, or if you would like any further information.
